Day Zero - Flight to LA

We were up at 6am to strip the bed and wash sheets and towels ready for our new tenants. It felt strange leaving our place knowing it will be nearly October when we see it again, but the adventure awaits. Guy & Troy picked us up and stored yet more of our stuff that we needed in the last week. They also took us to the airport to see us off - thanks boys!

We sat around drinking over priced coffee and raisin toast for a few hours before boarding the huge A380 to LA. Whilst the take off was super smooth and the flight wonderfully quiet, the flight took 12 1/2 hours and we felt every single second. Even on the A380, economy is still economy. The food is still bad, the seats still cramped and the cabin crew still rude if not slightly vacuous. Sitting right next to the toilets listening to every flush doesn't help either.

We managed to pass the time by watching:
Lou - Avatar (again), Edge of Darkness (average), Tim Minchin Live (very funny!) and Pink Live in Sydney (entertaining as ever).
Jo - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Loved it - I'm waiting to read the book), The Lovely Bones (thrilling) and Precious (slow but good).

We arrived safe and sound at 9.30am LA time on Sunday, technically before we left Sydney. We're all set now for all 106 days of our adventure to come....
