Our last day in San Francisco was a bit more leisurely than we've been used to. We packed up and set off for a coffee before we start our journey inland towards Yosemite National Park. We went to Bluebottle for a yummy cappuccino. It seems you can find good coffee in America, you just need to know where to look for it. Although, a most disturbing sight was seeing a guy get his fresh long black and then put sugar and OIL in it. Yes, oil like olive oil in his COFFEE. Bizarre.
On our walk back we found a little place selling Vietnamese rolls so we grabbed them with roast pork while we could to eat later. We set our trusty GPS for Steiner St to look at the beautiful houses and we ate our rolls as the smell was too much to resist to wait any longer. On our way out of town we took a look at the massive Golden Gate Park. We drove around most of it as it is just so huge but it's a great place to see on a sunny day like today.
After that, we took a swing by the Castro as made famous in the movie Milk (great movie with Sean Penn as political activist Harvey Milk) and walked up and down the streets. Jo managed to buy a t-shirt so it was a successful stop :)
Now we were totally on our way as we said farewell to a great time in San Francisco over the Oakland Bay Bridge. We got a bit disorientated (or the GPS did as I like to think) at the spaghetti junction on the other side of the bay but once on the right path we were cruising. The surroundings change drastically as we go from city to vast, flat farmlands that go for miles.
We arrived at Yosemite Springs B&B at 5.30pm and were warmly greeted by Whitney who made us very welcome. We sat and chatted over a cuppa on the deck and got introduced to 2 of the 4 dogs. Odie is a rescue dog who is deaf with doggie parkinsons so she shakes a bit but is the cutest thing ever. Ling is beautiful too and a bit of a princess, she will paw your leg for more pats if your attention is deemed to be not fully on her. Bless!
After a rest and a shower we head out for dinner and take a stop at Coulterville before heading into Groveland. It's very cute with the oldest Saloon in California to boot so this had to be experienced. We stopped in for a few beers and a burger. It was great to relax and unwind after a long day of driving and as we drove the 15 miles back to the B&B it was definitely time for bed!
