Day Three - Hollywood

We were up and out to catch our lift back to LAX, this time we were picking up our rental car. We hopped on the Hertz shuttle and it was three-times-a-charm as the first car had someone else in it, the second car was tiny and had no GPS, the third car was finally the right one and we were on our way.

A Volkswagen Jetta will be our carriage for the next 13 days. Thank god for the GPS though as until you get used to it, LA is a confusing place to drive. Jo did brilliantly well all day as we had a full agenda.

We started off on Hollywood Blvd to check out the Walk of Fame (the Hollywood stars on the pavement), Grauman's Chinese Theatre (where the stars sign their name in the cement with handprints and footprints) and the Kodak Theatre (where they hold the Oscars each year).

From there we drove down Sunset Strip and did our own 'make it up' Movie Star's homes tour through Beverly Hills. I'd ask Jo "Who lives in there?" and she'd quickly look at the house and determine from it's size, shape and style who she thought lived there. "George Clooney" she announces confidently. "And what about this one?" she asks me. I believe this is the sort of place Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas would reside. Amused us for a while anyway!

We thought we'd take advantage of the GPS and drove to get a good view of the Hollywood sign. This sort of worked, the sign was still miles away and we had to ask two English tourists and dodge traffic to get even this shot!

Welcome to Hollywood!

We took Janet's advice and then drove on to the Farmer's Markets and The Grove (outdoor shopping). We wandered around all the yummy food stalls and cafes and then thought we might as well take a peek at the shops. Jo managed to find herself a really nice T-shirt and an awesome belt to begin the re-stacking of her travelling wardrobe. Much more to come though!
